The CEO of Bullion Hotel, Simawa Area, Ogun State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, and his legal team have called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abiodun Alamutu, to investigate the police officers who helped political thugs invade his hotel last Tuesday.

About 20 political thugs and police officers allegedly invaded the Bullion Hotel in Shimawa, Ogun State, according to THEWILL.

Ajadi, a Chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and the governorship candidate in Ogun State in March 2023, demanded accountability and justice for the officers who invaded his hotel and ransacked the rooms without a warrant.

He said the incident raised serious questions about the state’s law enforcement’s conduct and professionalism, prompting calls for Police Force reform.

Ajadi slammed the officers as unskilled and unprofessional, saying they lacked the qualities expected of law enforcement officers.

Ajadi said the officers and heavily armed thugs stormed the hotel commando-style in the early hours of Tuesday without legal authorization, intimidating and embarrassing the hotel guests.

He said police searched under beds and wardrobes and protected thugs who stole from hotel staff and guests.

He said, “It was unfortunate for the officers and thugs as the Hotel’s CCTV captured their illegal and sinister activities.

Additionally, the officers needed to be properly attired. The police officers wore casual shirts and slippers instead of the standard uniform and boots, Ajadi said.

Barrister Isaac Izunya, the Head of Ajadi’s Legal Team, said the Shimawa Divisional Police Officer (DPO) detained the complainants and labelled them as suspects while releasing the original attackers and labelling them complainants.

Izunya said, “The DPO did not stop there but accused the alleged complainants of attempted murder after they left their homes to come to the hotel and were attacked unprovoked.

How can someone attacked in his flat be charged with attempted murder?

“There was no arrest warrant to back up the illegal arrest made by the police officers and the physical assault on the staff and hotel guests,” he said.
