Despite his confident pre-primary declarations, Ibrahim ended up in fourth place in the Ondo APC governorship primary election. He, along with other aggrieved aspirants, was consoled by the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa clinched victory in the primary election, declared winner by the Primary Election Committee led by Governor Usman Ododo. However, Senator Ibrahim and several others contested the outcome, citing irregularities and violence.

In response, Ibrahim and five other aspirants lodged a petition challenging Aiyedatiwa’s victory, calling for a fresh primary election. The group included Olusola Oke, Folakemi Omogoroye, Olugbenga Edema, Jimi Odimayo, and Wale Akinterinwa.

At a meeting in the APC headquarters in Abuja, Ganduje urged the aggrieved aspirants to support Aiyedatiwa in the general election, drawing from his own experience of initial failure before eventual success in politics. He emphasized unity within the party for victory in the upcoming main election.

Despite Ibrahim’s earlier confidence in his chances, he ultimately fell short in the contest, as reported by Pulse.
