Once Hon Solomon Ighrakpata was named Delta State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) Board Chairman, the BIRS offices in Warri celebrated. Hon Ighrakpata’s knowledge and reputation in the sector made the announcement a welcome surprise.
Hon Ighrakpata resigned from the Internal Revenue Service Board from 2015 to 2018 to run for the Delta State House of Assembly in 2019, where he won Uvwie State Constituency. He led the IRS Enforcement Group as Deputy Chief Whip of the House and represented Delta Central on the IRS board.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori recommended Hon Ighrakpata and four others to the State Assembly for screening and approval as Chairman and Executive Directors of the reformed Board under the Delta State Board of Internal Revenue Service Law, 2020.
Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor announced the Board’s reconstitution at Tuesday’s plenary session.
The Delta State Internal Revenue Service’s Warri headquarters celebrated Hon Ighrakpata’s appointment (IRS). Hon Ighrakpata, a servant leader noted for his uprightness, discipline, and friendliness, was well-received.

From 2019 until 2023, he chaired the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Special Duties and was Deputy Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
