The Super Eagles of Nigeria are in the same group as the 2023 AFCON host Côte d’Ivoire, relentless Guinea-Bissau, and Equatorial Guinea.
Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is excited to face the Super Eagles in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

At the final draw in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau were drawn into Group A.

Former Galatasaray forward Drogba said facing the Super Eagles and other Group A teams was exciting.

In 2015, Ivory Coast won the Africa Cup of Nations, and 2013, Nigeria did under the late Steven Keshi.

This makes for an exciting match as both teams want to win the Continental trophy again.

Drogba acknowledged the group stage matches’ challenges but praised Ivory Coast’s readiness during the draw.

He stressed their willingness to participate in this aspect of AFCON, emphasising the competition’s goal of selecting the best teams from all groups.

“This group is tough. Nigeria is a favourite, so having them in our group will be exciting.

But we’re up to it. This is the beauty of AFCON, so we are ready to challenge ourselves and let the best teams from this group and all groups qualify.” CAFonline quoted Drogba.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Saudi Arabia today and Mozambique on Monday to prepare for AFCON.
