Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, is in trouble, and Mike Ozekhome, Senior Advocate of Nigeria and senior counsel for the IPOB leader, has warned that the IPOB leader would pass away while under the care of the Department of State Services.
Following the delay of the IPOB leader’s case asking for his release due to his failing health, Ozekhome made this statement on Thursday.
Kanu needed surgery, the attorney said, and he had requested the court to find in his favour so that he might be moved from DSS custody to Kuje Correctional Center for medical attention.
He was cited as saying to BBC News Pidgin, “My Lords, Nnamdi Kanu is sick; he has been approved for surgery, but they have refused to release him for treatment.
“We are asking with the DSS to move him to Kuje Correctional Center so he can start receiving therapy like everyone else.
“He’s terribly unwell, and I’m afraid he might pass away while in DSS’s care. No charges are brought against corpses.
The court reaffirmed that it would consider all of the motions in the case on the resumed hearing on September 14, notwithstanding the IPOB leader’s senior counsel’s request.
The court claimed that even if it continued to hear the appeal, it would need more time left on its docket to reach a decision and deliver it within the allotted 90 days.
“Nnamdi Kanu won’t pass away while incarcerated. The court added, “God will keep him alive, and his blood won’t be in your hands.
