The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is poised to collaborate with the Nasarawa state government and Bobtrack Tractors, a division of Saint Bob Motors Limited, to commence the manufacturing and assembly of tractors in the north-central state.

Khalil Suleiman Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, revealed this during a visit to the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja by Nasarawa State Governor Abdulahi A Sule, along with representatives of Bob Track Tractors and the state government.

According to Segun Ayeoyenikan, Director of Information at NASENI, Halilu emphasized that the project aims to generate wealth and employment opportunities for Nigerian youth, aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for food security and the promotion of mechanized farming and agro-business.

The Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Development Institute (AMEDI) in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state, will provide the facilities and infrastructure for the assembly and manufacturing of the tractors.

Halilu assured Governor Sule and the delegation of NASENI’s readiness to collaborate, expressing the Agency’s willingness to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to initiate action in the coming weeks.

Highlighting President Tinubu’s recognition of NASENI as a national brand, Halilu mentioned the National Tractor Recovery Programme, which aims to refurbish 55,000 tractors for mechanized farming nationwide.

In response, Governor Sule expressed his support for NASENI’s vision of promoting made-in-Nigeria goods and emphasized the government’s role in fostering a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.

The governor’s visit aimed to introduce Bob Track Tractors to NASENI and explore the utilization of existing facilities at AMEDI, Lafia, for tractor assembly rather than acquiring new land. Bob Track Tractors, which specializes in tractor assembly and manufacturing, expressed readiness to invest in Nasarawa State to drive mechanized agricultural initiatives with the support of the governor, his team, and NASENI.
