In order to promote entrepreneurship, a new social venture was started in Oyo, southwest Nigeria.
The Enterprise Republic was formally launched on Saturday, bringing together government officials, local leaders, and budding businesspeople in a specially constructed home.
Seun Kolade, a Nigerian academic in the UK, said, “The formation of Enterprise Republic, which has been years in the works, is our small effort to confront the issue of young unemployment and underemployment, and the myriad difficulties linked with it.”
“Although it is not a magic wand, we are devoted to giving ambitious and budding entrepreneurs a place where they may develop their ideas, learn new skills, add value to society, and make money for themselves. Now that it has been built, the facility can fully teach and assist hundreds of businesses. Solar energy will power this facility, which will also have constant internet connectivity.
This month, Mr Kolade began teaching Entrepreneurship and Digital Transformation at Sheffield Hallam University. He is a great inspiration to the Black academic community in the UK, where only 1% of professors are Black. According to the Higher Education Statistics Agency, only 160 of the more than 22,000 professors in the nation are Black.
Previously, Mr. Kolade taught at De Montfort University and the University of Wolverhampton.
Suleiman Adediran, a retired university dean and current development consultant, commented on Mr Kolade’s concept and remarked that it is an answer to a social need.
He has changed his mind about encouraging individuals to engage in entrepreneurial activity to advance society, according to Mr Adediran.
The centre “is replete with an incubation hub, an accelerator space, a studio for content producers, two training rooms, a multipurpose hall, and a café,” according to Mr. Kolade. We will release the initial training courses in our Digital Skills Academy over the coming days and weeks.
