Text: Deuteronomy 30:10
“If you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His status which are written in this Book of the law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
” A new commandment I gave to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)
The dictionary meaning of the word “pleasing” is giving pleasure; delight; agreeable; satisfaction; cheerful; enjoy; gratification.
“and return to the Lord your God and obey His voice..” (Deuteronomy 30:2)
The first step to living a life pleasing to God is “to return to the Lord your God” by being born again. New birth is a spiritual formation, the beginning of living a life that is pleasing to God. Outside of Christ one can not please God.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit.” (John 3:6)
“and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
(Romans 8:8)
If someone have not come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, no matter how morally upright the person is before men, but before God the person stands condemned, because he or she is not yet a child of God. When we give our lives to Jesus Christ, automatically we have become children of God.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
Who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:12-13)
After being born again, we must allow the Holy Spirit of God to have a total control of our lives; By living in total obedience to God’s word, His commandments, His instructions, His prescriptions, His directions.
It is very important to note, that no matter how spiritual one claim to be, but live a life according to the desire of the flesh, and indulging in sin, and in total disobedience to God’s word, that life can not please God.
Another thing to note from our text is Love
Love is the fulfillment of the law. No matter how you speak in tongues, if you don’t love and show love to one another, you don’t love God indeed. Our love towards God is practically manifested when we show love to one another. There is no two ways about it.
Listen to Jesus Christ instruction concerning this once again.
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” (John 13:34)
” He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.
He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.” (1John 2:9-10)
May the Lord bless you and keep you now and forevermore through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen
