The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal overturned Seyi Sowunmi’s election win in Lagos State’s Ojo Federal Constituency.

Naija News claims Sowunmi won on the Labour Party (LP) ticket.

Nevertheless, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Lanre Ogunyemi contested the Independent National Electoral Commission’s declaration of the Labour Party’s win (INEC).

On Thursday, a three-person tribunal panel fired Sowunmi and elected APC candidate and former Lagos State APC Secretary Ogunyemi.

Judge Ashu A. Ewah, Chairperson; Justice Abdullahi A. Ozegya; and Justice M. A. Sambo found the Labour Party candidate unqualified to run.

Court confirms Lamidi Apapa as Labour Party National Chairperson, fires Abure.
The Court of Appeal in Owerri, Imo State, dismissed Julius Abure and reinstated Lamidi Apapa as Labour Party National Chairman (LP).

The court confirmed Apapa as the party’s national chairman on Thursday.

The court also revoked the gubernatorial candidature of Abure-led party candidates, including Senator Athan Achonu, who stands for Imo state governor.

The court ordered INEC to recognise and publish the party’s Apapa-led gubernatorial candidates in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states.

On Monday, a Court of Appeal in Benin City, Edo State capital, confirmed Abure as party national chairman.
