The African Action Congress (AAC) party uncovered a vehicle displaying Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s sticker transporting electoral materials destined for local government area elections scheduled for Saturday. This revelation was shared by the party’s national publicity secretary on his social media profile, noting that the driver hastily fled upon realizing he had been exposed.

In a post on his social media profile, the party’s national publicity secretary disclosed the discovery, stating, “PICTURES: Updates from #OyoLGElections. AAC has raised alarm over a vehicle with @seyiamakinde sticker carrying sensitive materials for tomorrow’s elections. Immediately this was discovered and the alarm was raised, the driver sped off. @ARISEtv @channelstv @SaharaReporters.”

Earlier, the party had expressed concerns about alleged plans by the Oyo State government to deploy thugs and hoodlums to manipulate the upcoming elections in the state. This apprehension was communicated via a press statement issued by the party’s State Chairman, Kayode Babayomi, on Thursday. The party emphasized that involving non-state actors in the electoral process would undermine democratic principles in the state.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has organized the local government elections in Oyo State, which are scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2024. The distribution of sensitive materials for the elections began on Thursday, April 25, with local government areas in the Oke Ogun axis being the first to receive them.
