The 100-hour record was now surpassed by Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, who had previously set a goal of 96 hours.
Currently, spectators at the cook-a-thon competition at the Amore Gardens in Lekki are sharing recordings of themselves applauding the young chef and congratulating her on reaching the milestone.
Hilda had originally planned to finish at 4 PM today, surpassing the previous record holder for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual” with a 96-hour run.
The chef from Lagos started the contest on Thursday after turning on her cooker at 4 o’clock, and she beat the previous world record holder on Monday morning.
If verified after the 100th hour, she will surpass Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who now holds the record with 87 hours and 45 minutes of record-breaking uninterrupted cooking.
