In a tragic incident, two undergraduate students from Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma lost their lives in a cult-related retaliation attack.

Among the victims was an officer of the students’ union government (SUG) at the university, identified as a 400-level student in the Faculty of Agriculture. The fatal attack took place on Tuesday, April 30, at the Poultry Road Extension in Ekpoma.

These devastating events unfolded shortly after another student named Eddy was fatally assaulted by a group of individuals, allegedly for using fake bank alerts to make purchases. However, the circumstances surrounding Eddy’s ordeal were misunderstood as an act of aggression by rival cult factions.

This misunderstanding led to a retaliatory attack by a rival cult group, resulting in the tragic deaths of the two undergraduate students.

Confirming the cult-related killings, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), stated that several suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, with investigations ongoing to unravel the full extent of the situation.
