The Nigerian Police Force and Shiites battled in Kaduna State, injuring at least 20 people.
The event happened during a parade led by Sheikh El Zakzaky’s supporters to commemorate International Quds Day.
Before the police attacked them, a Shia leader, Yunusa Lawal, told Vanguard that they were on a peaceful parade as part of the festivities commemorating International Quds Day to protest Israel’s prolonged unlawful occupation of Palestine.
“Around 20 of our members received varied degrees of injuries, with two of them, including a lady, getting bullet injuries, but we cannot verify whether there is any casualty or not,” he added.
“Apartheid Israel maintains its unlawful occupation of Palestine. Terror strikes by Israel’s harsh soldiers are carried out on a regular basis. Human rights atrocities against Palestinians have become the norm.
“We are sensitizing people to the injustice being perpetuated against Palestine and the disclosure of crimes being committed.”
Lawal went on to say that Buhari carried out a slaughter in Zaria because of his sympathy for Palestine.
He went on to criticise El-indefinite Zakzaky’s incarceration.
“In Nigeria, the Islamic Movement has been marking this anniversary for decades.” Furthermore, one of the causes for the Buhari massacre in Zaria that killed Sheikh El-Zakzaky and disbanded the Islamic Movement was this sympathy and solidarity for Palestine.
“The same Buhari-led administration that deployed the military to inflict life-threatening injuries on Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife is now denying them their fundamental human rights to health by slapping an unconstitutional block on their travel documents.”
“We deplore the prolonged refusal of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his wife, Muallima Zeenah, travel passports to enable the pair to travel for medical treatment,” he said.
